It is the library’s policy to provide a range of resources that support the curriculum as well as provide students with opportunities to further their reading interests. It aims to develop information and research skills and provide a quiet environment where students can develop good study habits.
The library is open to students from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Monday – Thursday, 8.30 – 4.00 p.m. Friday. It is open throughout lunch and recess but is closed during prayer times. The senior school library is also open during the school holidays for quiet study and research.
Depending on the year level, students may borrow up to 4 items for a two week period. A student identification card is required for borrowing. Students with overdue books are not permitted to borrow and lost or damaged books must be paid for.
The library has over 20,000 items available for loan and includes a wide selection of teacher reference material and guided reading resources. Foreign language books are available in Arabic, Turkish, Indonesian and French.
The library also holds a large selection of Islamic texts.
The library catalogue can be accessed on the school Intranet.
The library promotes reading through a number of activities including The Scholastic Book club, children’s author visits, and participation in the Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge.
