Regarding the Terrorist Attack in New Zealand

Asalaam Alaikum Wr. Wb.,
17 March 2019

Dear Parents / Guardians,
Assalamu Alaykum Wr. Wb.,
On behalf of Australian International Academy, we express our utmost sympathy and pay our condolences to all those who have been impacted by the violent, tragic and deadly terrorist incident in Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday 15th March 2019.
We want to reassure you that AIA will be engaging our student well-being services as required to support students and staff that may be affected directly or indirectly, or unsettled by this tragic incident.
We are also in contact with the local authorities including the local police to ensure that we are able to offer the right support to children and young people who, understandably, have questions and concerns on what has happened.
The school organised a series of events that will coincide with Harmony Day celebrations to address our students, including increased attention to security around the school and emergency response procedures.
Your child may want to talk to you about this incident. The advice that we have been given, is that it is important to reassure them that it is very unlikely that any of us will be hurt in this way, and that a number of people have been working very hard to help everyone affected in New Zealand.
Our thoughts as a whole school community are with everyone affected by this tragic incident. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. May Allah grant the victims of this terrible shooting forgiveness and mercy and raise their status to the highest levels of Jannah. We assure our parents that all our students in all campuses in NSW and Victoria are safe and protected in their school environments. Our campuses have security measures in place to protect our students and we are continually reviewing it accordingly.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any particular concerns about your child.
